supporting deaf children and their families in the local area for over 10 years
Here at the Lancaster & Morecambe Deaf Children’s Society (LaMDCS), we have been supporting deaf children and their families in the local area for over 10 years.

We are a friendly parent-led group, and our primary aim is to help deaf children overcome the barriers that can hold them back, and enable them to grow up as confident, independent individuals.

For us, this encompasses any child with a hearing impairment, ranging from mild to profound, whether it be temporary or permanent.

We provide confidence-building activities and regular social activities designed to enable deaf children to meet, play and interact with deaf peers and their siblings.

We also offer support and advice to their parents/carers and their families, and have found providing social opportunities for parents to meet and exchange stories and advice while their children have fun is invaluable.

90% of deaf children are born to hearing parents with little or no experience of deafness or knowledge of how to communicate with a deaf person (NDCS).
National Deaf Children’s Society
We are affiliated to the National Deaf Children’s Society (NDCS) which gives members access to a full range of regional and national support.
